Sergeant Major (Ret.) Bryant enlisted in 1982 and served four years in the infantry and 23 years in Special Forces/Special Operations. He began his military career in the 82nd Airborne Division and later attended the Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC). In 1987, he was assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). Subsequent assignments include 3rd Special Forces Group, United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, and United States Army Special Operations Command.

SGM (Ret.) Bryant served as a Weapons Sergeant, Engineer Sergeant, Intelligence Sergeant and Operations Sergeant on Special Forces A teams. As an instructor, he taught at the Officer Committee and the Special Forces Qualification Course. He also served in various staff positions at the company and battalion level, Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force and as the Sergeant Major for the Special Operations Iraqi Transition Team. Included in his numerous overseas deployments are combat operations in Granada, the Persian Gulf, Kuwait, Afghanistan and Iraq.

Upon retiring SGM Bryant continued to train Special Forces and soldiers from U.S. Army as an independent contractor. He most recently worked for a company providing logistics security in Uganda, South Sudan and Central African Republic.
